___Employee Focus: Too Many Unplanned Absenses

_____How Do You Create Schedules Where Employees Are _____Incented to Show Up? Don't Staff For The Worst Case _____Scenario

Absenteeism is a fact of life at every business in the world. Vacations and
holidays are typically planned months in advance and can be managed. It is
the unplanned absenteeism that can really stop production, hold up deliveries,
ruin service levels at contact centers, and leave mining teams short the
required headcount to go underground.

Although unplanned absenteeism cannot be eliminated, better schedules can
reduce much of it. By creating schedules that allow for ample days off,
employees can rest and have time away from work to re-energize. Also, with
more days off employees will have time to go to the bank, doctors, school
plays and all the other activities that can cause last minute, unplanned
absenteeism. This is not to say that employees will no longer get sick or have
last minute emergencies, but by creating schedules that not only work for the
business, but also work for the employees, unplanned absenteeism is greatly
reduced. Instead of overstaffing, create a scheduling system that allows
employees to earn overtime to fill gaps.
